The Garland 4523505 Range SIT Thermocouple 18 is used to provide safety by sensing and regulating the flow of gas to the burner. This thermocouple operates by producing a low level of electrical current when heated by the pilot flame and this activates the gas valve to stay open. In case the flame extinguishes, the current is automatically cut off, and the valve of the gas closes so that there are no leaks.
