The Garland 4531139 Oven Thermostat GS G/UT Series works by sensing the temperature inside the oven and adjusting the amount of gas or electric flow to achieve the required amount of heat. It operates on a temperature sensitive probe and control system which turns the heating components on or off depending on changes in temperature. This thermostat is installed as a part of the control system of the oven and attached to the main temperature dial and heating elements and it controls the thermal performance to maintain the same conditions during cooking.
