The Comstock Castle COM17005 Thermocouple 18" is a flame sensor system that is used in industrial gas cookers. Installed close to the pilot flame assembly it generates an electrical signal when heated and this keeps the gas valve operating in normal operation. This thermocouple is frequently found in work tables, ovens and ranges where close to a flame is needed. The loss of the pilot flame makes the signal stop and the gas flow is cut off. It works as a component of the safety and ignition system.
