The Jade Range 300-226-000 Burner Gasket 3-5/16" x 1-1/8" makes a seal around the burner by fitting between the cooktop and the burner assembly in a tight manner to reduce any gaps that might allow the escape of gas or heat. It is set in by pressing into the specially made groove on the burner opening, and it fits well. This gasket is meant to be placed beneath the burner on the cook top surface and directly beneath the burner ring so that it fits evenly and is in contact.
