How do I recalibrate my oven thermostat so the temperature is right?

Everyone makes cookies, cakes and pastries, which are baked, but hitting the perfect results can often be difficult. It always helps to follow the recipe, but a well-calibrated oven can be the secret to consistent results. Oven calibration is a procedure in which you change the temperature of your oven to ensure precise operation. This basic technique is an excellent way to ensure that you get the results you need to cook or to roast a favourite dish of the family.

Every stove is different – learn how to read its temperature with a simple oven and a digital thermometer accurately, find its hot and cold spots and calibrate your stove to achieve more reliable results! It's a reasonably easy to calibrate your electric temp oven, both analog and digital. You only need an accurate oven thermometer and a Phillips head screwdriver if the analog controls are present in the furnace.

First, an oven thermometer is required. The cheap range of food shops works well! Preheat the oven to 350° and put the thermal mixer in the middle of the oven. Once you have a thermometer and when the oven is fully preheated (spend a lot of time) the temperature is tested. Ideally, the temperature should be tested with the oven still shut through the oven door. A lot of heat will escape from an open door!
