The Southbend SOU1177111 Range Cast Iron Burner Assembly directs gas into its ports and allows combustion to take place when ignited to create a flame on the top surface to cook on. It is attached to the burner box of the range and fits into position with the gas valve and source of ignition to cause the flame to be spread along its length of 7-3/4". The burner is placed under the grates of the cooktop, and it is on the surface where the pots and pans come in contact with the heat.
