The Allpoints 1061177 Vacuum Breaker Kit is used to avoid backflow by permitting air to enter a system when a vacuum or negative pressure situation arises and then the vacuum is broken and unwanted fluid is not drawn in the opposite direction. When the pressure decreases to lower than atmospheric pressure, the valve will open to allow air to flow into the system and stabilize it. Once normal pressure is restored, the valve will close to ensure that there is a closed flow path.
