The Southbend 1183756 Oven Door Spring 6-3/4 inch overall tapered at each end is used to store the mechanical tension of the oven door as it is moved, and the spring is able to either stretch or compress as a result of force action. When the door is opened or closed, the coils of the spring are stretched or contracted to store and the release energy to assist in controlling the movement of the door. It is mounted between mounting points on the door assembly and frame of compatible equipment on the oven, which can offset the door.
