The Giles 23908-R Thermocouple Kit J-Type 4" Grounded Bent works by producing a low voltage to respond to temperature variations to enable it to sense and control the amount of heat in the air. The curved tip is grounded so that it can touch the heat source directly to sense the temperature. It is designed to installed in the gas-fired appliance close to the pilot flame to detect ignition and ensure that the flame is functioning correctly. Its small size and curved design enable it to be easily fitted into enclosed spaces.
