The Hatco 5.30.047 Knob is used to rotate the control shaft in order to adjust a setting on compatible equipment by moving the internal mechanism as it is rotated. When the knob is turned, it clips the shaft and moves the related control through its series of positions. It is attached to the front panel with the control shaft sticking out, and the pointer or indicator points at marked scales or labels. The design is designed to fit the required shaft sizes and panel cutouts, which gives it a surface to be manually adjusted and used as a reference point during operation.
