The Manitowoc 76-0160-3 Ice Thickness Probe is used to measure the density of ice in commercial appliances by passing electrical impulses through the ice to determine the levels of thickness. It constantly monitors the accumulation of ice and reports the values to the control system of the machine to control the freezing process. The probe is constructed to be installed in the ice storage bin and fits snugly into the machine to ensure that it always comes in contact with forming ice without being obtrusive to the normal operations.
