The Hatco 02.40.002.00 Toaster Diode F-8 is a specialized semiconductor that limits electrical current to one direction in the heating circuit. It transforms alternating current to pulsating direct current to control the thermal output of the toaster elements. This element is placed between the heating element terminal and the power lead in the internal control compartment. The junction made of silicon is enclosed in a thermally insulated casing to separate the electrical contact from the rest of the metal chassis.
