The Groen GR42366 Gasket 3" X 3" is a flat gasket that is to be used to provide a seal. It works as it is sandwiched between the end faces during assembly, and the under-bolt torque is lowered to fill the irregularities on the surface and minimize the passage of fluids at the connection. This is installed on the openings of the mating flanges or fittings, and is aligned with the bolt pattern before the tightening of the fasteners such that the sealing substance is between the two jointed surfaces.
