Hoshizaki 432250-01 Motor Starting Capacitor is used for single phase AC motors, especially for refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. These capacitors are to be used to supply current to the motor to help it start up when the supply voltage is low. As compared to three-phase motors single-phase motors do not possess inherent starting torque. The starting capacitor causes a phase shift in the current supplied to the motor which results in the formation of a rotating magnetic field. This rotating field supplies the exciting force that is required to pull the motor and get it in motion in case of an inertial load.
