Impeller

Dishwasher Impeller

The dishwasher drain impeller is responsible for forcing the water out of the dishwasher and through the drain hose. The impeller is typically made of plastic and is shaped like a propeller. As the dishwasher's motor turns the impeller, it creates a suction that pulls water through the dishwasher's drainage system and out of the appliance. Over time, the dishwasher drain impeller can become damaged or worn out. This can cause the dishwasher to drain slowly or not at all, resulting in a buildup of dirty water in the appliance. Replacing the dishwasher impeller is a relatively simple task that can be completed by a professional or a DIY enthusiast with some mechanical experience.
