The Hobart 20045 Burner Gasket Fiber 2-11/16" X 1-3/4" works by ensuring a safe seal between the burner and the other parts of the burner to ensure that there is no gap in the contact. The design is made to be snug so that it compresses to create a tight interface to conform to the shape of the burner. This gasket is to be installed directly surrounding the opening of the burner and it is in contact with the metal surfaces so that it fits flat against the metal.
