The Wells 34654 Safety Thermostat activated its contacts electrically when the sensed temperature exceeds the predetermined limit, and avoiding a possible chance of the heating element operating beyond the set point. It comes set as a Type LCHJ thermostat having a temperature rating of 440F, therefore making an automatic response to high operating temperatures.
