The Hatco 02-16-001A Thermostat S responds to heat through a sealed sensing system connected to the switching body. The 3/8" dimension refers to the bulb diameter, while 4-3/32" establishes its sensing length. A 12" capillary carries the pressure response from the bulb toward the internal contacts. The rising or falling temperature alters that pressure, causing the contacts to change electrical state at the corresponding setting. The commercial appliance heats cycles based on this form of temperature-responsive control system to regulate the associated circuit.
