The Garland GL1637002 Contactor 3-Pole 40/50A 208/240 V is a part that provides an electromagnetic coil to open and close electrical contacts to enable the flow of current to the connected parts. As the coil is energized it pulls the contacts together completing the circuit and as it is de-energized the contacts part, breaking the flow. It is made to fit inside electrical panels and is commonly installed in a commercial or industrial areas where it is necessary to control circuits with high currents.
